Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design
Designing Safer Spaces: How Thoughtful Environments Prevent Crime
The Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Program partners CCPD with business owners and managers to reduce crime. CCPD offers free Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) evaluations by request for businesses. CPTED is a multi-disciplinary approach for reducing crime and fear of crime. CPTED strategies aim to reduce victimization, deter offender decisions that precede criminal acts, and build a sense of community among inhabitants to reduce crime opportunities. CPTED site evaluations are conducted by CCPD Officers specially trained in CPTED. Officers will conduct a site evaluation and make recommendations if applicable to improve safety of the location.
For more information and to request a site evaluation, please email cpted@culvercity.org or contact Community Engagement Manager Jennifer Atenza at (310) 253-6120.
