Culver City Officials, Police Department Chief Sims, Assistant Chief Dunlap, Captain Martinez, Captain Bellante, and K9 Officers and their K9 Partners all stand side by side as Culver City Recognizes K9 Ander's Retirement

On February 24, 2025, we celebrated an incredible legacy at the Culver City Council meeting as we honored K9 Ander’s retirement!

After over eight years of dedicated service alongside Officer Kakuk, Ander has made a remarkable impact on our community. From completing 240 hours of POST training to achieving certifications in both patrol and narcotics detection, he has truly gone above and beyond. Since his deployment, Ander has assisted in seizing over $6 million in currency, 3,500+ pounds of illegal substances, and has played a crucial role in more than 200 felony arrests. Notable moments include apprehending a homicide suspect and contributing to the largest domestic drug seizure in May 2021.

Thank you, Ander, for your unwavering commitment, bravery, and all the lives you’ve touched. You’ll always be a hero in our hearts!
