Special Olympics Torch Run

Runners completing a torch run to support Special Olympics athletes

Cheer on the Culver City Police Department as they carry the Special Olympics Torch, known as the Flame of Hope, in the annual Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run through the city on Monday, June 3, 2024, from approximately 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm.

Culver City Police Department personnel will help carry the torch on its way to the 2024 Summer Games in Long Beach. The runners joined by Special Olympics athletes and representatives will receive the torch from LAPD Pacific Division at Culver City Police Department Headquarters and complete a nearly 3-mile run heading Southbound on Duquesne Avenue to Westbound Jefferson Boulevard, Northbound Overland Avenue, to Eastbound Culver Boulevard, finishing at City Hall. Light traffic impacts are anticipated. Please cheer the runners on if you see them!

First established in 1981, the Law Enforcement Torch Run helps raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics, as law enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes carry the Flame of Hope to the Opening Ceremony.
